"Off - center of the Universe" by amp

Tell me something
When the rain falls on your face
How do you quickly replace
It with
A golden summer smile?
Tell me something
When i'm feelin' tired and afraid
How do you know just what to say
To make
Everything alright?
I don't think that you even realize
The joy you make me feel when i'm inside
Your universe
You hold me like i'm the one who's precious
I hate to break it to you but its just
The other way around
You can thank your stars all you want but
I'll always be the lucky one
Tell me something
When i'm 'bout to lose control
How do you patiently hold
My hand
And gently calm me down?
Tell me something
When you sing and when you laugh
Why do i always photograph
My heart
Flyin way above the clouds?

Director's treatment
I have always been inspired by the play of light. In my past videos for Up Dharma, the use of light has strongly influenced my concepts. From the band's first single, "Maybe", I played with the idea of silhouettes against colored dancing lights. With their next single "Hiwaga", I tried to convey the emotion of loneliness and isolation in deep space though the use of strong primary colors: red, blue, green, and yellow. Now for their new single "Taya" from their new album Bipolar, I wanted to push the concept of using lights a bit further. Given that their new album has a totally new sound and feel to it, I wanted to give their video a new look and feel as well.

Their new single "Taya" is a lot more edgy and analog in their sound. Visually, I wanted to translate these elements. The song, first and foremost, became my inspiration. In this day and age of CGI and visual effects, I wanted to take a step back from all of this. To push my concept of light play, which I have traditionally used, the idea that came to me was to make the band literally "play" with the lights. The idea for this concept came in a sort of eureka moment while I was in Japan and saw a group painting with light. So by then using an old film technique known as stop motion photography, I could bring the lights to life and let the band have fun with them. All the effects were done live and on camera. This gave the video a very raw and choppy feel that blended perfectly with the song.

To bring this idea to life, was ambitious to say the least. I have to give full credit to the team (ISK PRODUCTIONS) for going though this journey with me. It took months of planning, 3 test shoots, 5 long nights of production, and over 5,000 photographs. In the end, I hope the video and the song will give an old sense of awe and amusement to a new generation of viewers.

Like doing stuff like these

"a dark room, a mini flashlight, a camera, a little creativity and inspiration can make a difference"

Love is...

…Feeding her cute little cousin some cerelac.
…Running around, playing tag in a supermarket.
…Playing with her fingers when she’s exhausted.
…Waiting for who hangs up the phone first. And being sensitive about it.
…Listening to the music she listens to.
…Feeling like a dick whenever she’s treated so by a gentleman.
…Laughing with her about how nerdy that gentleman looks.
…Watching sesame street with her younger brother
…Letting his younger brother rest his head on your shoulder. Which by the way is Drooling.
…Letting her take a picture of you and her sleeping brother.
…Waiting for her to trip on those pumps.
…Being a dick for letting her trip and laughing at her.
…Apologizing about that, hold her hair showing her face, then kissing her on the forehead.
…Going to a rock concert with her and buying an ice cream for yourself only.
…Inevitably sharing that ice cream with her, and maybe steal a sweet vanilla flavored kiss.
…Eating the ice cream cone alone.
…Going to cold movie houses and watching a movie for the nth time.
…Holding her soft hands, keeping it warm, and not minding it being sweaty.
…Fighting her to get the last piece of pop corn, and then sharing it with her.
…Waiting for her finish her shopping.
…Telling her how those pants make her butt big and how much you like it.
…Chatting with the sales ladies, trying to get more knowledge about what women wear.
…Forgetting where we parked the car.
…Driving her home, listening to our songs.
…Waking her up with a kiss on her forehead when you reach her house.
…Leaving her, and quickly going to her mom’s and stealing a bite of what she’s cooking.
…Finding her asleep on the sofa when you get back.
…Whispering to her that you have to get home, and kissing her on the lips.
…Seeing her gentle smile that says it all.
…Saying bye to her family, after getting some cookies and a tiny milk tetra for the road of course.
…Having a few misunderstandings.
…Overlooking them
…Or sometimes, making them worse.
…Hearing her cry over the phone
…Having no communication
…Missing her like crazy.
…Gathering up the strength to talk to her again
…Learning that she’s abandoned you
…Wondering what went wrong
…Talking to her about what happened, expecting something good
…Get back into the game, or
…Getting a closure instead of rescuing the relationship
…Missing the things that you did
…Missing the kisses
…Wondering if she’s OK
…Starting to forget how her voice sounded like
…Missing her more.
…Blaming yourself about what happened.
…Wondering what's in her mind.
…Going crazy
…Being depressed beyond all recognition
…Cursing the heavens.
…Wondering what she’s doing.
…Not being yourself for a long period of time.
…Accepting the fact that you two weren’t meant for one another.
…Being traumatized or
…Seeing a new light
…Living your life again
…Appreciating what life is all about
…Moving on, but not forgetting.
…Meeting new people
…Developing something new
…Asking yourself, if it’s too soon.
…Inevitably falling in love again.
…Repeating everything all over again, and maybe this time, it stand the test of time.

Till this world finds another heart to keep you.

And It stoned me to my soul.

You made me. You make me smile, you make me cry, and sometimes, you even make me puke. You’re still not real enough to kill me, but you’re already killing me. What more if you discovered the number combination to my life? I just died a few months ago. You were there. And if ever, you’ll have me at my worst. The difference with you two is, she had me at my best, and again, if ever, you’ll have me at my worst.

I’m on the edge of a desert cliff. Looking down bellow, I see grass, water, and everything beautiful. Up here, I see nothing but dust, and my ridiculously nostalgic past. It’s true that time makes all the difference. I can see significance in dust because I’ve spent so much time with it. The hard part comes when you start spending even just a little time on something else.

The past left me. She reasons that she’s off to greener pastures and she took with her, the grass we planted on top this beautiful cliff we picked. A place where we shared our love, our passion, and desires.

The world found another heart to keep her. We had everything. Even the reasons to bid each other farewell. We caressed lips for the last time. Made love with her for the last time. She nibbled my ear for the last time. Kissed her nose, Sweetly conversed in pseudo british accents, stared at each other’s eyes, held her in my arms, looked at the stars, and sang to our songs for the last time. Wondered what will happen next. We Cried, we died.

"I miss you love"

Music, she was our love child. It was what’s left of our love. It’ s what’s left to remind us that we had something that nobody else will ever have. No matter how bad I want to give this child away, I still can’t. She’s everywhere. Her cries are everywhere. I even hear them from YOU.

"You're just the best I ever had"
